Dear Friends and Colleagues!

It is our great pleasure to invite you to Kyoto to participate in The 4th Meeting of the International Society for Hydrocephalus and Cerebrospinal Fluid Disorders. This meeting (Hydrocephalus 2012 Kyoto) will be held from October 19 to 22, 2012. The title of the congress is “The Next Step in Hydrocephalus Research”.

This meeting will present the latest advances in clinical practice and research on hydrocephalus and cerebrospinal fluid disorders. Topics cover all aspects of cerebrospinal fluid research. We have seen many achievements in this field since the pioneering work of Harvey Cushing, but many unsolved problems remain, and we must take the next step toward solving them.

On March 11, 2011, we experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake: a huge disaster for our country. We acknowledge the heartfelt messages and support from many people throughout the world. Although Kyoto was not affected directly by this disaster, we hope that this meeting will help express our gratitude to people throughout the world and will show Japan’s power for revival.

Kyoto is a beautiful city with the history of the ancient capital spanning over 1000 years. The city has seventeen World Heritage properties allowing you to experience the essence of Japanese culture in Kyoto. The meeting venue is The Westin Miyako Kyoto, which is one of the largest hotels in Kyoto. You can easily access the hotel by bus, subway, or taxi. In the afternoon on October 22, you can enjoy the Jidai Matsuri parade, one of three famous festivals in Kyoto, which will take place near the congress venue.

We look forward to seeing you in Kyoto.
